Impact of life long learning in education; Lifelong learning is the “ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated” pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. It is important for an individual’s competitiveness and employability, but also enhances social inclusion, active citizenship, and personal development.

Lifelong learning has been described as a process that includes people learning in different contexts.These environments do not only include schools but also homes, workplaces, and even locations where people pursue leisure activities. However, while the learning process can be applied to learners of all ages, there is a focus on adults who are returning to organized learning.There are programs based on its framework that address the different needs of learners, such as United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, which caters to the needs of the disadvantaged and marginalized learners

 

Here are some of the positive impact of life long learning in education;

1. It improves student’s self confidence:
Learning never ends and a student’s ability to positively utilize and use the knowledge they have acquired to improve their lives automatically boosts their self confidence. Since it gives them the ability to develop a sense of fulfillment in themselves.

2. It enhances motivation:
Learning something new continuously boost students excitement and interest in their work which can help them to stay motivated since they are not restricted to learning the same thing over and over again.

3. It increases student’s employment opportunities:
Life long learning is not only beneficial to a student’s personal education, it is also very key to their professional life as their level of education and knowledge will determine their employability and increase their chances of getting hired by a potential employer.
